Privacy & Data
Plain English, no legalese: here is exactly what WeldIQ does and does not do with your data. The short version is that the tools are built to keep your work on your own machine, and nothing reaches a server unless you deliberately ask it to.

The tools run in your browser
The Weld Calculator, Arc Energy & Heat Input, Carbon Equivalent and Preheat calculators, and the Weld Map & Balloon Dimensional Tool, all run entirely in your browser. The numbers, drawings and results are worked out on your own device. Nothing you type or upload into them is sent to, seen by, or stored on our servers.
What is saved on your device
To stop you losing work, some tools auto-save your current session to your browser's local storage. That stays on your device, in your browser — we cannot read it, and it is not synced anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it.
What reaches our servers — only when you choose
These are opt-in. If you never sign in or send feedback, none of this happens.
- Cloud Save (needs an account). When you save a project to the cloud, its name and contents are stored to your account, and any drawings you have loaded are uploaded to a private storage area locked to your workshop. Only members of your workshop can read them.
- Offcut Inventory (needs an account). Your stock, locations, jobs and usage history are stored against your workshop and kept private to it. Other users and other workshops cannot see your inventory.
- Your account. Signing up stores your email address and a securely hashed password through our authentication provider. You can delete your own account at any time from the account page, which removes your workshop data with it.
- Feedback. If you use the feedback form, we store what you write, and — to help us act on it — the page you sent it from, your browser's user-agent string, and your name/email if you choose to give them. A copy is emailed to us so we see it.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see roughly how many people visit which pages. It is privacy-first: it uses no cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not track you across other websites. We only ever see aggregate numbers, never individuals. There are no advertising trackers or pixels anywhere on the site.
Who processes data for us
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. To run the site we rely on a small set of service providers, each handling only what their job needs:
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and the cookieless analytics above. As with any web host, it processes standard request data such as your IP address to serve and protect the site.
- Supabase — the database, account authentication and private file storage behind Cloud Save and Offcut Inventory.
- Resend — delivery of the feedback notification and account emails.
- Zoho Mail — our own email inbox for replying to you.
Your control
Your signed-in data is yours. You can edit or delete your saved projects and inventory from within the tools, export your projects to a file at any time, and delete your whole account from the account page. If you want a copy of what we hold, or want it removed, just ask.
